BOOK REVIEW BY ANDREA WALTZ – AUTHOR OFGO FOR NO!
Self Sabotage No More by Jennie Potter
‘To succeed in business, we all know the important things. Things like discipline, habits, and motivation. Without these, we quickly see that we will not get the results we want. Still, why is it, that sometimes no matter much we want to achieve something, we can't seem to muster up the energy to take the action?
Procrastination. Overthinking. Guilt. Perfectionism. Hiding from the world. It's a cycle. And most people beat themselves up thinking they need more yet even more discipline. Better habits. Motivation and accountability from someone else because they don't have it inside. It becomes like a war. A battle against yourself to do what you (supposedly) want to do.
I will tell you in teaching the "Go for No" strategy for over 2 decades, we have seen this over and over. People know exactly what to do and how to do it. But when they simply don't do it after a while, there is only one reason: it's self-sabotage.
So, while the traditional methods of getting you to do what you need to are all valid, what about looking deeper? Looking at some things that might not be so obvious. And it has to do with your past programming and emotions, some of which may be trapped from past events.
Author, Jennie Potter, shares some methods and techniques that go to the root of a lot of problems instead of the surface level, "Just show up more, wake up earlier, do more" advice. And this is why I am such an advocate of this book. Because sometimes I am baffled to help people get out of their own way.(And if I'm being honest, this goes for me, too!)
But what do emotions have to do with sabotage? The answer is: a lot.
Through her years of study and experience with herself and her clients, Jennie created a five-step method for you to release unprocessed emotions at the heart of stopping your self-sabotage.
If you want to showup better, different, consistently but it never seems to work out for you… it’s time you learn a new approach.!
